Bluestone Elementary School
Highlights
Bluestone Elementary is a new construction of a three-story, 103,000 square foot school with capacity for 755 students. The new elementary school was designed specifically to meet the needs of an incredibly diverse, global student population while creating welcoming public areas that embody values of inclusivity, creative expression, and communal learning. The school includes numerous sustainability initiatives with high levels of energy efficiency and ‘net-zero ready’ design.
RBI mechanical, hydronic, and plumbing system installation work included:
- Geothermal heating and cooling system, including outside air units
- Classroom water-source heat pumps
- Variable and constant air boxes
- Water to water heat recovery chiller
- Variable speed drives on much of the equipment to enhance energy efficiency
- Aquatherm polypropylene piping, an environmentally friendly product that is starting to see inclusion in newer HVAC design practices
- Geo-thermal domestic water heater
- Water-saving fixtures throughout the facility
