UVA University Hospital Expansion – Renovations
Highlights
UVA University Hospital underwent phased renovations of over 90,000 square feet of existing spaces to support a major expansion. The renovations are spread over 3+ years, more than 15 non-contiguous phases, with numerous sub-phases, and 3 levels of the building.
RBI’s role included:
- Renovating hospital bed spaces and support/administrative spaces in various phases
- Upgrading the domestic hot water recirculation system with a new master mixing valve assembly and distribution piping system
- Installing new medical gas master alarm panels to serve the existing hospital and new expansion per NFPA 99 code requirements, with reporting to building automation control system
- Upgrading mechanical and plumbing systems (including heating hot water, chilled water, domestic hot and cold, DWV, and medical gasses)
